African print: Dashiki

February 10, 2017

Hello everyone

The name dashiki comes from the word “dan ciki” which means shirt in Yoruba a language widely spoken in West Africa.

It goes way back in the 1960’s. It’s a unisex garment that was commonly worn in Africa. In the recent years the dashiki shirt has become part of essential street wear attire thanks to international celebrities increasingly being captured rocking the lovely print.

Dashikis are very comfortable, especially in warm weather because of their loose fit which makes them an easy wear for everyone.

During my recent visit to my home country Kenya, I decided to rock my dashiki shirt with a nice black short. The good thing with this shirt u can wear it with pretty much anything and still look stunning.
